Der Atmel ATWILC1000 ist ein Link-Controller für den Einsatz mit TCP/IP-Stacks von Drittanbietern mit WLAN-Unterstützung nach IEEE 802.11b/g/n auf dem 2,4-GHz-Band. Die Firmware des ATWILC1000 wird vom Host-MCU geladen. Dies ergibt eine einfache Möglichkeit, um die Firmware des WLAN-Moduls gemeinsam mit der Firmware des Host-MCU zu aktualisieren. Die WLAN-Firmware kann ebenfalls von einer externen Quelle geladen werden.
